Life coaching
Life coaching is a nonclinical collaboration about goals, daily choices, habits, and practical action. A conversation might help you plan a career change, practice a boundary, organize responsibilities, or review progress. Perspect coaches may listen thoughtfully but must not use clinical assessments or therapy interventions to diagnose or treat a condition.
Counseling and therapy
Licensed counseling and psychotherapy involve regulated clinical professional services within the provider’s license and training. They can include evaluating mental health needs, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. Clinical licensing, applicable privacy laws, and professional duties vary by profession and jurisdiction. Counseling can also support everyday life concerns; the difference is not simply “past versus future” or whether a diagnosis already exists.
Choosing appropriate support
A diagnosis is not required to seek help from a licensed professional. If distress affects safety or daily functioning, if you seek treatment for a mental health condition or trauma, or if you need clinical assessment, use an appropriately licensed provider. Coaching can support separate everyday goals alongside clinical care without replacing it. For immediate danger call 911 or local emergency services; in the United States call or text 988 for suicide or crisis support. Perspect does not monitor messages around the clock.
